Listening & Playback

Streaming, audio quality, offline downloads, and supported devices

FRISKY is available on iOS (iPhone), Android, and the web at frisky.fm. The iOS app also supports CarPlay and AirPlay for listening in your car or on external speakers.
Free listeners get standard audio quality. Premium subscribers enjoy high-quality audio for a richer, more detailed listening experience.
FRISKY radio channels stream free in standard audio quality — all you need is a free account. No Premium subscription required. You'll hear occasional ads on the free streams. Upgrade to Premium to unlock high-quality audio and an ad-free experience.
Offline downloads are a Premium feature. In the FRISKY iOS and Android app, find a mix you want to save and tap the download button. Downloaded mixes are available in your Library under Downloads, even without an internet connection. Downloads are not available on the webapp.
External player streaming is a Premium feature. In the FRISKY webapp, go to Settings → External Players — or open any channel page, tap the "..." menu, and choose Play in External Player. For each channel you can download a playlist file and open it in your player, or copy the stream URL and paste it into your player's Open Stream / Open URL option. Your stream URLs are personal to your account and don't expire — they keep working after you log out or change your password, so you can set up a player once and forget it.
Yes. Any device that can play a custom internet radio URL works with FRISKY — Sonos, WiFi internet radios, hi-fi network streamers, and similar hardware. Copy a channel's stream URL from Settings → External Players in the FRISKY webapp, then add it to your device as a custom radio station (on Sonos, add a custom station and paste the stream URL). An active Premium subscription is required. FRISKY doesn't have native device apps or directory integrations yet — use your device's custom URL option.
Stream URLs are personal and tied to your Premium status. Check these: (1) Make sure your Premium subscription is active — your stream URLs stop working when it lapses, and the same saved URLs start working again automatically once you resubscribe. (2) If you regenerated your stream key in Settings → External Players, all previously saved URLs stop working — copy the new URLs to your devices. If none of this helps, contact us at .
FRISKY specializes in underground electronic music including deep house, techno, progressive house, melodic techno, afro house, organic house, and other emerging electronic genres. All content is 100% exclusive DJ mixes and shows.
FRISKY is 100% focused on exclusive DJ mixes and shows from the underground electronic music scene — content you won't find on any other platform. We were the first music streaming service to focus only on long-form (aka DJ mixes). It's what we do, and we're great at it. Everything is human-curated by expert DJs and music professionals, not algorithms. We're independently run (no fat cat VC money here) and member-supported since 2008.
Try these steps: (1) Check your internet connection, (2) Close and reopen the app, (3) Log out and back in, (4) Make sure the app is updated to the latest version. If the issue persists, contact us at with details about your device and the issue.
Offline downloads is a Premium feature and a valid Premium subscription is necessary to play downloaded music. If you have a valid Premium subscription and your downloads are still not working, try these steps: (1) Make sure you have an active Premium subscription, (2) Check that you have enough storage space on your device, (3) Try deleting the problematic download and re-downloading it, (4) Log out of the app and log back in to refresh your download permissions. If previously saved mixes have disappeared, a fresh login usually restores access. Contact us at if the issue continues.
If you're experiencing unexpected logouts or playback interruptions, try these steps: (1) Make sure the app is updated to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play, (2) Clear the app cache (on Android: Settings → Apps → FRISKY → Clear Cache), (3) Uninstall and reinstall the app, (4) Check that battery optimization or power-saving mode isn't killing the app in the background (common on Android). If the issue persists, let us know at with your device model and OS version.
FRISKY does not currently support Android Auto. On iOS, the app supports CarPlay and AirPlay for in-car listening. For Android users, you can connect your phone to your car's audio system via Bluetooth or an auxiliary cable to listen to FRISKY while driving.
